Unknown Soldier Revealed!

HISTORY
The unnamed man who became the Unknown Soldier joined the army in the early days of WWII, along with his older brother Harry. Both were assigned to the same unit in the Pacific islands, where Harry was killed saving his brother from a Japanese grenade. The explosion hideously disfigured the young man's face beyond repair.
Harry had said that one man in the right place could mean the difference in winning a battle, and his brother took this to heart. He became a one-man undercover agent, and trained to the peak of physical perfection. He became skilled in make-up, and learned how to impersonate almost anyone. From his base at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, the Soldier traveled to both the European and Pacific theaters of World War II to be in the right place at the right time.
His exploits became legendary; of all the American war heroes who haunted Adolf Hitler, the Soldier became the most hated. The Soldier on occasion would team with other government agents such as the black jazz player Chat Noir and O.S.S.'s Sparrow. While his fame spread throughout the war, he was often opposed and even thwarted by his German opposite number, the Black Knight.
The Soldier was rumored to have infiltrated Hitler's Berlin bunker as the war was ending in Europe in 1945. He "helped" the Fuhrer commit suicide, then left the bunker. The Soldier was then apparently killed while saving a child from an explosion in the streets of Berlin, thus ending his career as it had begun with his older brother's selfless act.
(The UNKNOWN SOLDIER Fact File by The Time Trust)
Dreams and Visions have kept in the tradition of their DC line with the introduction of The Unknown Soldier. Packaged in a sealed plain brown box emblazoned with "Confidential" and the figure name its simple packaging adds to the mystery of the figure. Looking over the box the first thing that stands out is the absence of the familiar Hasbro logo. For this figure it has been replaced by the Power Team logo. Dreams and Visions has used the new style Power Team body on this figure adding to its ability to pose into more realistic positions.
But don't let the Power Team body fool you; this is not your child's Power Team figure!
Examining the figure and his outfit I realized that Dreams and Visions has held to their high standard of 1/6 scale tailoring and has come up with one of the finest examples of a commercially available suit I have seen in some time.
The lightly pin-striped two piece suit, white shirt, actual neck tie (no elastic bands), black socks and wingtip shoes, as well as a very nicely made double breasted Trench Coat are the the highest of quality we have come to expect from Dreams and Visions.
The figure also comes with his trade mark mask that is packaged separately in a cello bag with instructions on how to put it on the figure. The material used on the mask is similar to what has been recently seen in some of Hasbro's removable hoods and gloves. Very flexible and stretches easily over the figure's sculpt.
Removing the clothing from the figure my only disappointment was the black snaps on the white shirt. The snaps can't be seen when the figure is dressed but I think it would have been a little better with clear or white colored snaps. The outfit is very well tailored to the larger Power Team body. The material used is a very nice scale striping with a good texture that hangs well on the figure. The Trench coat is one of the major selling points of this set, a nice silk lined double breasted coat that is secured with four snaps.
The outfit alone is worth the price of the figure. When you combine the clothing with the cool sculpt and mask, the price is very justifiable. The cut for the clothing is for the larger Power Team figure but should fit on other body styles with ease if you are so inclined to change.
I only added a fedora from "Project Are" ($6) to round out the ensemble.
True, this figure is not for everybody. Also true, it has a newer body unlike what Dreams and Visions has offered its customers before. But the result is; for the price of the figure, nobody offers anything close to the quality of the outfit and accessories. Dreams and Visions are looking to the future with the addition of carded disguises for the figure. They have unveiled their German Officer card which includes a detailed uniform, boots and mask. To see the future of the line, I have to ask myself, could this be the next Captain Action with a WWII military theme? Only time will tell.
