Review of 1st Texas Infantry / Carded Set #8

I purchased this carded set back in July and decided to dig up the mini-review for the "new" JWO.

For $17 the 1st Texas Infantry set wasn't half bad, all I had to add was a figure. The set included:

Forage cap with Texas emblems (molded)
Texas pattern frocked coat and striped trousers
plaid undershirt
socks
brogans
waist belt with Texas star buckle
1842 musket with sling
socket bayonet and scabbard (molded plastic)
cap pouch (molded plastic)
CS cartridge box (molded plastic)
haversack (molded plastic)
square frame knapsack
canteen
tin cup
boots (molded plastic)

Okay so a lot of the items were molded plastic, but still nicely detailed IMO. The tin cup is very realistic looking and a nice touch as well as the canteen. I'm not sure what material was used underneath but it feels heavier than plastic. The canteen is covered with a fabric that is eerily realistic for that era. The weapon is molded plastic but also nicely detailed with paint. Not DML quality but better than 21C or Intoyz.  On the uniform I found the shoulder seam had fallen apart and this was before I ever tried it on a figure. The seam was frayed to the point that I had to repair it.

This set does not come with the figure shown here.  I modified a Hasbro SA body to be fit with DML hands. I'm not exactly happy with the fit of the uniform on the Hasbro figure,  it is tight across the chest and in the waist (the belt is stretched past it's limit). But that's probably because it is made to fit a SST figure.

Summary: Other than the workmanship on the uniform stitching I am satisfied with what I got.
