Charlotte has invited me to join the JWO staff to putter around behind the scenes and organize the reviews. I first started collecting Joes back in 1969, when I got the original SOTW Japanese Soldier as a Christmas gift. It must have been on sale somewhere, because no way my family would have shelled out top price for a new Joe. I was bitten hard by the Joe bug, and branched out into the military line first, then the Adventure Team as they came on board, and ended my collection (and my playing) with Mike Powers, the Atomic Man. That stupid Camo-Flowered shirt and those shorts pretty much spelled the end of the Hasbro Dynasty in my world.
It was two and a half decades later when I again saw what I recognized as a "Real" Action figure, the Eastern Front German Soldier from 21sts Century. I bought him and quickly discovered others in the line, then discovered Dragon, BBI, Sideshow, and even re-discovered Hasbro (once they stopped making those steroid abusing Joes in the mid 90's). Since then, I have gone back into the sixth scale world, and my collection now numbers over 200 figures.
I would like to say I have two main branches of figures that I focus upon: Scottish History and Japanese Military. I would like to say that, but these darn manufacturers keep coming up with really cool figures that aren't Scot or Japanese. And so, my collection has expanded into some really cool German Engineers, DRK volunteers, Afrika Corp members, Napoleanic Guard, Indians, CYgirls and other fem fatales, and other misc. figures too cool to let slip past my collection. So, my collection has pirates and vikings and Huns and zombies, Japanese Admirals and Samurais, kitbashes from works of art and fiction, as well as normal military figures.
I will be writing up several reviews of figures, old and new, and kick starting the review section. However, I can't do it all alone. So if you have a question about a figure, want a certain figure reviewed, or have comments about the latest and greatest figures in your collection to share, be sure to write up a review so that everyone can know.
